Art Meets Fashion: Minna Parikka & Artist Jani Leinonen

October 15, 2012 in News by Bernd Ruhl

Shoe designer Minna Parikka and artist Jani Leinonen collaborate on an art project filled with corporate mascots and shoes.

The dynamic duo created a space with an optical illusion covered with a print based on Jani Leinonen’s painting. The print also takes over 3 styles of Minna Parikka’s satin shoes that all have their place in the installation.

‘Here the common and tacky commercial characters collide into the luxurious and abundant high heels. The battle between the classes has began.’ the duo states.

The 3 styles of shoes are all numbered and signed in series of 25. ‘They are art and we can not control what do you do with them, frame them or wear them!’

The pairs come in sizes 36-41 and are sold through Amos Anderson during ‘Boutique’ exhibition which is officially part of Helsinki World Design Capital Year.

Boutique – Where Art Meets Fashion until 12th of November, 2012 at Amos Anderson art museum

One of Minna Parrika’s trademark Rabbit hair design also made it into the holiday issue of Shoeholics Magazine (shown below), in stores now.

Lady Gaga In Brian Atwood’s “Fame” Boots

October 8, 2012 in News by Bernd Ruhl

Lady Gaga: Known for her over the top ensemble, the queen of eccentric couture did not disappoint last night in London when she turned up in one of a kind, made to order “Fame” sky high ankle boots by Brian Atwood. They were inspired by the design of the perfume bottle she was there to promote. Not only did her shoes grab attention, her jeweled finger gloves did not fall short either. Well, what can we say? It’s Gaga of course. We can’t wait to sniff this perfume appropriately called “Fame” when we see the bottle!
Remember the meat shoes?

Chanel Does The Hula

October 7, 2012 in News by Bernd Ruhl

Chanel is getting all the attention these days and it’s not for the classic 2.55 quilted bag they are known for. How about for a hula hoop inspired bag? To hang on the wall or to actually carry. That remains to be seen. The puzzle is, what kind of shoes would you wear with this work of art? Yes we know, It’s mind boggling but think of it from a shoe collector’s point of view. It’s large enough to safe keep 5 to 7 pairs of shoes and board a private jet! We just had to share it. It’s probably one of the most unique bags we have ever seen. We couldn’t help ourselves. Borrowed from our sister page, Bagholics

Now In Stores!

Like Zara Like Prada

September 29, 2012 in News by Bernd Ruhl

Look at what we stumbled into at a Zara flagship store. This is their take on what appears to be from a studded design for Prada men. But of course one cost thousands of dollars. We think you know which one.

A lot of the clothing and accesories in Zara stores right now looks like they were inspired by Prada’s collection, from a season or 2 ago.

Fashion works in mysterious ways. There is something for every budget. Word is the Zara crystal and grommet studded pairs are walking very fast off the shelves!
