Shoeholics At The NYC Gay Pride Parade!

June 26, 2012 in News by Bernd Ruhl

June 24, 2012 New York City: The Gay Pride Parade Day is not just about sexuality but more about equality across the board: sex, race, acceptance, awareness, unity, et.al. It’s about everyone getting along, the New York City Gay Pride Day in particular is the leader and trendsetter for all other parades around the world. It not only features the Gay community unapologetic and proudly marching to their own drums but also includes countless big wig major corporations and politicians taking a bite out of the media blitz! If you could combine the politics of Occupy Wall Street, politicians seeking votes, hyper energetic (and super proud) exhibitionists, with a dose of South American/Carribean Carnival spirit, the result would the Gay Pride Parade in New York City. Major corporations who proudly supports the community and didn’t miss a beat to have floats and dancers to display their logos: Wholefoods, Fedex, Cirque Du Soleil, MasterCard, Senators, Macys, Zip cars, Village Voice, Crunch Gym, HSBC Bank, Bravo TV channel, Pop Chips, Coca cola, New York University and even churches!

Each year the Pride organizers appoints a Grand Marshall to open the “floor” and this year it was only befitting to have the legendary singer Cyndi Lauper to do the honors. This particular parade marked the one-year anniversary of the Gay Marriage being legally put into law in the State of New York. Thousands of revelers traveled from far and wide to celebrate. The Gay community happens to be one of the largest shoe admirers and collectors in the world, make no mistake about it! We made sure Shoeholics Magazine was in the mix to represent our Gay/Lesbian readers and club members worldwide, making us the first mainstream publication (not meant for just the Gay community) to participate at any Pride parade in the world.

Participants of all sexual sectors straight or otherwise showed up to happily support, the result was intoxicating, far exceeding our expectation! It would be our first year at the coveted event and we do intend to fully immerse ourselves by having the party on a float complete with music and DJs next year, God willing. It is not to be missed!

Special thanks to everyone who participated, (our sincere apologies if we left anyone out. If we are missing your name please email info@shoeholicsclub.com) Alexas, Marcus, David, Olga, Coral, Imani, Lisa, Anita, Alanna, Sydney, Chanda, Courtney, Derek. The group was lead by Editor Tinu (who walked the entire parade in 5 inch Tribute heels by YSL) and Directors Renarda & Toriola with a stunning jaw dropping/crowd pleasing Jonas who serenaded the crowd to several dance/flip performances. The event went superbly well. We do hope to see you all next year!
