The Myrtle Awards Kicks Off With Shoe Cake of the Year Nominees! The awards will recognize amazing artisans in shoe industry as well as artists in other industry sectors embracing shoes as an art form. In this case, the cake industry where cake designers decorate and promote shoes as a form of art with cakes! The Myrtle Awards™ gets a kick off with “Shoe Cake of the Year” as the first category. The award is an effort to recognize amazing talents in shoe art craftsmanship no matter what form of medium used (i.e. leather, paper, flour, wood, paintings, illustrations, e.t.c). Many more categories, especially traditional shoe designers will soon follow.
Earlier this year, many cake designers from around the world submitted images of their work for consideration but only a handful were picked to be featured in the publication. This does not mean they are the winners but merely a presentation of the concept, a great holiday dessert option for our readers and of course to show the world their unique talents. Shoeholics Club members and magazine readers will get to choose the top 3 winners based on the number of positive likes/comments posted on pictures when they appear on Edible Shoes & Bags™ Facebook page. The final winner will be announced at the upcoming anniversary/holiday bash.
The one year anniversary/holiday party will be held at Pranna Lounge, NYC on Thursday, November 29, 2012 8pm-2am. Save the date and RSVP at events@shoeholicsmag.com.
The full list of nominees will be posted daily on Edible Shoes & Bags™ to allow our members to choose and publicly vote with positive comments and/or likes between November 1 to November 20, 2012. Cake designers are more than welcome to encourage their friends to vote for them to better increase their chances of winning! Also join us on our main Facebook page for Shoeholics!
Cake designers and hobbyist still interested in taking part are more than welcome to submit images to staff@edibleshoes.com until November 20, 2012.
