Kristin Cavallari

Dancing with the Stars/Laguna Beach alumni hit TV show star Kristin Cavallari is no slouch when it comes to fashion. The mother of one has been busy crafting everyday and accessible footwear at Chinese Laundry. The collaboration started sometime last year with the fall 2012 collection which are long sold out by now. She unveiled her spring collection for the label yesterday with DJ Neil on the turn table and innovative Drink Stack wine take away “cups” piled high for press members to help themselves.

Kristin’s collection boost a wide range of styles at enviable price points starting at about $60, chop change for most of you. Her recent fall collection had boots and booties while her spring collection features some of the season’s favorite pastel colors in wedges and sandals, including her choice of lavender. She begs to differ from the “reigning” black & white seen at every corner. Her collection actually stands out, more user friendly and approachable –to our surprise. For her upcoming fall 2013 collection for Chinese Laundry, she is looking into deep rich tones of red and not the usual dull black and grey most of you might already be used to for the season. But then again, red would be appropriate for the holiday season.

Miss USA, Nana Meriwether and Miss Teen USA Logan West turned up at the event to support Kristin and of course for Chinese Laundry, a label that also sponsors the Miss Universe Organization, one of Donald Trumps many business ventures. The beauty queens gushed about their collection of shoes from the label. Between the 2 ladies, they own about 120 pairs of Chinese Laundry shoes alone! To our surprise, we actually found some of the label’s shoes to be quite comfortable, lightweight and well made, especially some of their spring collection featured farther below.

In true Shoeholics style, Kristin Cavallari has about 100 pairs of shoes in her closet to date. She emphasized the need for a “revolving door” clean up, that is to have older shoes churned out for incoming and much needed new pairs. So at no given time has she actually exceeded the 100 pairs. Her favorite silhouette of shoes are booties (aka ankle boots) and preferring to wear no higher than 7 inches (on platforms that is).  However, after having her first baby, she feels the constant need for flat shoes, of which she has about 10 pairs so far –a perfect choice to be able to run after her toddler when the need arises.

Not too long ago, Kristin debuted her jewelry line with GlamBoutique & Kitson, partnering with Pascal Mouawad but has no plans to start a whole line of lifestyle products. She favors a handbag line in the near future but no plans for a clothing line –yet.

Preview some of the images from her spring collection below, most of which should be hitting the stores right about now.

Green For St. Patricks Day: NYC, Kate Middleton…

March 17, 2013 in News by Bernd Ruhl

Yearly, New York City holds the largest gathering of any Irish St. Patrick’s Day parade celebration than anywhere else in the world. On March 16, 2013, many turned up for the parade on glitzy fashionable 5th avenue in New York City despite the rain and snow that dampened the day. New Yorkers, never one to be stopped from celebrating anything for that matter proceeded as usual. Many revelers turned up fashionable while some chose green theme costume to honor the day. Nevertheless, the event was a success and we even managed to spot some of our favorite in the crowd.

Meanwhile in the UK, Kate Middleton was appropriately dressed in a green coat in observant of the day and also managed to handle the almost devastating “wardrobe malfunction” with her shoe! One of the heel got stuck in the drain. Overall, she looked terrific for the occasion. Erin go bragh to all of our Irish members worldwide!

If Shoes Could Curse!

March 9, 2013 in News by Bernd Ruhl

Ok, so you’re a good Church/religious girl who can’t curse. Perhaps these Jeffrey Campbell shoes can do the talking for you. In this case, it’s screaming “Fuck Off” on the toes part of the sandals. You only have to convince your parents to foot the check to get you a pair! Wish we could help you there. If you do manage to convince them that it’s for a school play, then we say, “enjoy them in good health.” 🙂

Sarah Burton’s Snow Queen Collection For McQueen

March 8, 2013 in News by Bernd Ruhl

Sarah Burton’s Fall 2013 collection for Alexander McQueen would make the late legendary namesake equally proud. Some of the looks presented at the runway collection were obviously inspired from the late designer’s own archives, a throw back to his Elizabethan inspired collection where models carried Orbe and covered with elegant headdresses complete with regal floor length red satin coats. Sarah Burton did hers with a twist. The styles evoked more of a winter white snow queen, designed during the last stage of her pregnancy. Unlike most runway collections, Sarah’s shoe collection for the label spoke volume and helped carry the tone for the entire collection. It was almost as if she started with the drawings of the shoes and worked her way up! These are the kind of shoes that make great collectibles in any closet or mantle for that matter. She has really outdone herself with this collection. Bravo Sarah! Long live McQueen!

Ballet Shoes For Lady Gaga

March 5, 2013 in News by Bernd Ruhl

Who could ever forget Lady Gaga’s music video “Marry The Night”? In case you can’t remember, preview the footage below.

Lady Gaga’s 18-inch ballet “Lady Pointe” ballet shoes were apparently custom made for the video “Marry The Night” by Japanese designer Noritaka Tatehana but never did make it into the video. They would be the second highest the designer has ever crafted for the singer, merging the worlds of ballet, art and haute couture. Some of his designs can be seen on display at the ongoing “Shoe Obsession” FIT museum exhibit in New York City, which includes the highest shoes he has ever made for Lady Gaga; pictured here.

The singer is no stranger to extreme edgy shoes. Below is another pair exclusively designed for her perfume launch press appearance by Rem D. Koolhaas. The singer insisted on the higher the better and that was exactly what she got, peppered with nude golden boys hanging on to the boots.

Alexander Wang Paris Debut For Balenciaga

March 2, 2013 in News by Bernd Ruhl

Alexander Wang made his Balenciaga debut at the Fall 2013 Paris Fashion Week representing the legendary sculptural quality of CristĂłbal Balenciaga’s monolithic legacy very well.  And to think the 29 year old creative director had only a few weeks to prepare the entire collection. The New York based designer definitely made his mark in Paris. He cleverly did a different twist to T strap and V strap shoes in the collection. That has to be the most unique style of shoes we have seen in a while.

Shoeholics & Contemporary Art At Dior Fall Runway Collection

March 2, 2013 in News by Bernd Ruhl

Creative director Raf Simons tapped into his pre-fashion career in contemporary art for inspiration at the Dior Fall 2013 runway collection. Simons has a background as a gallerist for the likes of DalĂ and Giacometti and was able to combine both world of art and fashion for the collection. For us Shoe lovers, this couldn’t be any more perfect, especially where shoes and bags become one as art. We look forward to adding this collection to our growing number of shoe themed collectibles. Simons must have had Shoeholics in mind when he drew ornate shoes on rich fabrics for the Dior Fall 2013 collection. Who knew Shoeholics could inspire an entire collection? At Christian Dior no less. Borrowing from President Obama’s campaign slogan; Change has come to fashion!

Beyonce’s taste in fashion was always going to be pretty lavish. Her latest footwear acquisition is a pair of custom-made trainers, made for her by high end brand Perfectly Made Kicks (PMK) using exotic animal skins.
PMK handcrafted the sneakers to her exact specifications using a mix of stingray, ostrich, calf’s fur, crocodile and anaconda skins.

Hope you like the outcome.
