Fashion’s Night Out 2012 Full Report!

September 7, 2012 in Events, News by Bernd Ruhl

September 6, 2012: The 4th annual Fashion’s Night Out 2012 was a smashing success and we can only hope it was the same for the rest of the world. New York City’s fashion districts (Meat Packing District, 5th Avenue, Madison Avenue, SOHO) was awash with fashionistas strutting about in their best looks, mingling and networking. Champagne flowed while the cash registers worked on overtime, everyone seemed happy. Some of our editors spread out all over the city hitting hot spots like Dior where iconic photographer Arthur Elgort set up a makeshift photo studio for clients, Chanel, Michael Kors, Giuseppe Zanotti who had a packed house, Dolce & Gabbana, Lanvin, Tom Ford, and Barneys. Celebrities were spread out between Kim Kardashian at Lord & Taylor, Lana Del Ray playing at H & M, Bethenny Frankel at Macys, Cyndi Lauper at Manolo Blahnik, Miss Piggy at DKNY, Debra Messing and Kate Upton at Michael Kors, and many others we didn’t get a change to see. So many places so little time!  The entire city looked like an outdoor party till about midnight.

Our very own Editor Tinu with the legendary American style icon, Iris Barrel Apfel at Henri Bendel!

The event kicked off the semi annual New York Fashion Week with the best in fashion world occupy the city to take in the Spring – Summer 2013 collections at the Lincoln Center.

Please preview some of the images gathered by our team and editors from the fun packed evening, with more on TINU’s blog as well.

We hope to see you all again next year!

Shoeholics Proudly Sponsored Hot Stiletto’s Annual Party Soiree

August 20, 2012 in Events by Bernd Ruhl

Shoeholics Magazine was a proud sponsor of Hot Stiletto’s 2nd annual party soiree on August 19, 2012 at Simpson House in Kansas City, MO, USA where some lucky guests were also gifted autographed copies of the international best selling The Shoeholic hardcover book. This signature event featured a full evening of music, dancing, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and shoe-gazing; not to mention, a chance to compete for title of Best-in-Shoe in a pink carpet “stiletto strut-off” presided over by a panel of fashion socialites, and industry experts. The event brought notoriety to local shoe stores and also promoted networking among fashion industry professionals including retail buyers, fashion journalists, trendsetters, tastemakers and consumers. Shoe lovers, fashion fanatics, and those in support of women in Domestic Violence Shelters, came out in full force to support this fantastic evening of footwear and fun! Also in attendance was Kansas City’s local news station KCTV 5. The founder of Hot Stiletto, Vicki Kelley and the host of the event, Sean Tyler, had an on air interview with Bonyen Lee the morning of the event. Channel 5 also came out that evening and aired footage from the event.

Hot Stiletto is a social club for women with a mission to build a strong sisterhood of women through their love of shoes, while striving to inspire, support, uplift, and encourage one stiletto step at a time! It’s all about having fun, meeting other shoe lovers, and checking out the latest footwear fashions… not to mention, excellent justification for lots of shoe shopping! Not only do they support admiration for shoe craftsmanship, they also provide opportunities for philanthropic growth as some of the proceeds of the events were donated to charity.

Hot Stiletto has a charity volunteer division called “Heels Can Heal!” This group of women have a special place in their hearts to support breaking the cycle of domestic violence against women. The way we see it, it doesn’t matter if you have or have not personally experienced domestic violence, we as women still have an obligation to help each other when we can, after all we are our sister’s keeper!

We look forward to sponsoring and supporting many more events and philanthropic work like this. It was a pleasure being for us to be a part of it. As much as we love shoes, it is always important to stop and help others less fortunate no matter how small.

Happy shoe loving everyone!

Sweet Kiss

xoxo

Fashion & Sightings At The Gay Pride Parade 2012

June 26, 2012 in Events by Bernd Ruhl

New York City hosted the annual Gay Pride Parade on June 24, 2012. As you can imagine, it was a platform for savvy, cutting edge and fashion forward exhibitionist and we made sure our camera was there to capture it all. Did we mention Shoeholics Magazine was also in the parade?

The Gay Pride Parade Day is not just about sexuality but more about equality across the board: sex, race, acceptance, awareness, unity, et.al. It’s about everyone getting along, the New York City Gay Pride Day in particular is the leader and trendsetter for all other parades around the world. It not only features the Gay community unapologetic and proudly marching to their own drums but also includes countless big wig major corporations and politicians taking a bite out of the media blitz! If you could combine the politics of Occupy Wall Street, politicians seeking votes, hyper energetic (and super proud) exhibitionists, with a dose of South American/Carribean Carnival spirit, the result would the Gay Pride Parade in New York City. Major corporations who proudly supports the community and didn’t miss a beat to have floats and dancers to display their logos: Wholefoods, Fedex, Cirque Du Soleil, MasterCard, Senators, Macys, Zip cars, Village Voice, Crunch Gym, HSBC Bank, Bravo TV channel, Pop Chips, Coca cola, New York University and even churches!

Don’t forget to pick up your copy of Shoeholics Magazine in stores now or sent home to you anywhere in the world! Join our community of shoe loving family, it’s absolutely free to sign up and start networking and posting articles right here on this site.

Go ahead and browse through the images below. You just might get some inspirations for your next outfit (or costume) for an event or to go out shoe shopping with friends!

Enjoy!

But of course, it's yours truly! Shoeholics Magazine at the parade!

March 18, 2012 in Events, News by Bernd Ruhl

Black Eyed Peas Fergie Rocks Prada For St Patrick's Day

Fergie stepped out in style on the red-carpet for Voli Light Vodkas in Beverly Hills Lounge & Nightclub on St. Patricks Day. In keeping with the theme, she showed up in green colored fashion including her shoes! She rocked the new flame designed Spring-Summer 2012 collection by Prada. Trust our Shoeholics magazine editor Tinu to also celebrate the green theme and Irish colored flag watching the 251st annual parade in New York City wearing green head to toe and orange leather bag!

It was a lovely day in New York City, March 17, 2012, the one day of the year to see men in kilts and dress in many shades of green and still manage to look fashionable and chic. Figured why not check out the Irish style to share with everyone. Beautiful kilts and tartans of various colors were abundant and so where revelers ready to party and drink pints of Guinness all night. However, we could not resist noticing some unique attires and dare we forget some very stylish Irish shoes to mark the special historic day, the 251st anniversary of St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Givenchy Haute Couture: The Shoes Are To Die For!

January 28, 2012 in Events by change

Givenchy Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2012.

A great way for me to finish the couture shows in Paris this season. Talk about saving the best for last. I am still losing sleep over the shoes! It is rare to find me with very little to say, and that is because the Givenchy Haute Couture presentation left me with my tongue tied. The collections was BEYOND! Have a look at the video footage below and pay close attention to the jaw dropping shoes then hold your breath and take it all in. I have to admit that I have never seen anything quite like it before. I have been collecting Givenchy Haute Couture creations for quite sometime now but nothing like this. The shoes are to die for! What a work of art! J’adore!

Amy Winehouse Lives Through Jean Paul Gaultier

January 25, 2012 in Events by change

Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2012.

Day 3 in Paris, 1st of 4 shows I attended on this day. Amy Winehouse was the inspiration behind Jean Paul Gaultier’s couture collection and I suspect this would also diffuse down to his ready-to-wear collection for the masses in a couple of weeks. What’s not to like? Amy’s edgy street fashion could easily be transformed into wearable art on many levels. Monsieur Gaultier paved the way with this collection, Amy Winehouse is alive and well through the collection. The models were all made up to look and act (including some smoking on the runway, complete with the attitude) exactly like late crooner. High beehive hairdo, extended thick painted eyeliners, sandal platforms and wedged shoes, et.al. The show would not be complete without the Grammy winner’s very own sultry voice filling the historical landmark building backed by a quartet of ballad singing dark suited men (think of the Temptations stepping to the microphone in unison).

While taking in the show, I had my personal issues to deal with having 2 casually dressed tourists seated next to me who managed to snag tickets to see a couture show for the first time. You can imagine the excitement and constant questions and comments about every model that walked by. Who can blame them. It’s not everyday one can “jaywalk” into couture show in Paris. I could not even get my date a ticket to see the show!

Preview more images and watch the video footage from the show below. For more on the label visit Jean Paul Gaultier official website.
