The New Year is looking very promising already. We have something to look forward to come February 8 – April 13, 2013. It would be a great time to plan a trip to New York City for a shoe culture worthy Museum visit. Claim it as a school trip if you must, this definitely qualifies.
The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology (MFIT) presents Shoe Obsession, an exhibition that examines our culture’s ever-growing fascination with extravagant and fashionable shoes. In fact, designer shoes have overtaken “It” bags as themost coveted fashion accessories. In response, shoe departments in major department stores have undergone significant expansions, and the “great designer shoe wars” have escalated. Over the past decade, heels have reached new heights —as have prices. High-heeled shoes—the fashion shoes of the 21st century—have become so tall that even a 4-inch heel is considered “low.”

Shoe Obsession willfeature approximately 150 examples of contemporary footwear, highlighting the extreme, lavish, and imaginative styles that have made shoes central to fashion.
The popularity of designer shoes has grown rapidly. Little more than a decade ago, appreciation of Blahnik’s feminine, elegant designs was limited primarily to fashion insiders. Then the style-conscious characters on the popular television series Sex and the City were presented as obsessive about his shoes, and Manolo Blahnik became a household name. Shoe Obsession will include a pair of Blahnik’s rhinestone-buckled, silver D’Orsay shoes—a version of which was used in a 2003 Sex and the City episode titled “A Woman’s Right to Shoes.”
Pierre Hardy fall ’10
Daphne Guinness—one of today’s most influential style icons—will also lend a selection of her heels, including extreme examples by Alexander McQueen and Nina Ricci.
Some notable iconic shoes will be on view February 8 – April 13, 2013, at The Museum at FIT in New York City. Admission is free and open to the public.
Be sure to save the date to check out some of the best shoes ever made. We definitely can not wait to see them all!
The New Year will bring more spiked shoes, a trend many thought would die with 2012. So, should we be excited or fan our faces while yawning?
2012 is almost over, the year that saw a tremendous increase in all things spiked. As the New Year of 2013 draws near, we can’t help but wonder if we have seen the last of spiked shoes and accessories.
Some designers beg to differ (won’t bother naming names, you already know them). Many have chosen to embrace the ongoing trend with yet more spiked shoes and accessories in their upcoming Spring-Summer 2013 collection. Thought you had seen the last of spiked shoes and accsossories? Think again. Don’t put your punk jackets away so soon. You get to rock them all over again with some of these past, present and future spiked shoes featured below.
At the New York premiere of “Les Miserables” on Monday, Anne Hathaway hit the red carpet dressed head to toe in black by Tom Ford — which included a thigh-high slit and a dramatic cape and a pair of custom gladiator style thigh high boots. The bondage style boots, which were created with vegan leather, featured open toes and then straps and buckles that ran up and down her leg.
In “Les Miserables,” Hathaway plays Fantine, a dying prostitute, which is a part she shed 25 pounds to play. Opens in theaters on Christmas day worldwide.
So, today is the 12th day of the 12th month in the year of our lord 12th year of the millennium. How do you intend to celebrate such a symbolic day? Break out a bottle of Dom Perignon, uncover the Beluga Caviar and admire your collection! Not everyone gets to see the symbolic rhyme of 12. The next one won’t be until December. 12, 2112 to get the next rhyme of 12. If you’re reading this today, there is a super high chance you won’t be alive to see that day in 2112. That would make you super old and unable to walk let alone wear high heels!
This is how it’s done dear members, live it up! Life is too short! Hear! Hear! Happy holidays! 🙂

Lady Gaga in what may be the highest platform shoes ever made. But of course, it’s Gaga, she wouldn’t be seen in anything less.
These iconic shoes sparked many water down versions found in the market for common folks like us who can strut around in stratospheric shoes (sans the limos and handlers).
Designers like Giuseppe Zanotti made lower versions for the general market. Think you can handle the height like Gaga?
Shoeholics was selected from a pool of over 750 new publications launched between October 2011-September 2012 and narrowed down to a very short list of 15 publications, Shoeholics Magazine made the list! – a medal of honor indeed!
Creative Director/Editor in Chief Tinu with Mr Samir Husni at the MIN Awards
Creative Director and Editor in Chief Tinu was on hand today at the MIN Awards to represent the Shoeholics. Not only did her daringly bright pink coat get noticed, her shoes caused a quite a stare. We can’t expect anything less from an editor of a Shoe related/fashion magazine editor.

Love pink? Singer Nicki Minaj launches Pink Friday fragrance in matching colors from head to toe! Giuseppe Zanotti did the honors in the exaggerated soft pink peep toe platform shoes.
You don’t like the pink? Don’t fret. It also comes in a sparkly silver version 🙂
Anne Hathaway dazzled in Givenchy Haute Couture at the world premiere of the epic movie, Les Miserables in London.
Anne Hathaway is always something of a red carpet pro, and the glowing star didn’t disappoint this time around in a body-skimming, floor-length Givenchy gown covered in tiny pearls. The actress paired the show-stopping dress with her signature played-up lips and her new pixie ‘do. The dress was pulled from the Givenchy Haute Couture (designed by Ricardo Tisci) Spring/Summer 2012 collection which we were present at the fashion show something in January, earlier this year. We witnessed some jaw dropping gowns at the show, some of which had matching shoes! If only we could see the shoes Anne Hathaway wore with this dress. Hopefully it’s one of those featured in the video footage below from the fashion show.
First, preview the event video footage below to get a visual sense of the party. The party had no shortage of gorgeous shoes on men and women!
Shoeholics Magazine anniversary/holiday party went off with a big bang on Thursday, November 29, 2012 in New York City! First, we would like to acknowledge the captivating host, Sierra Scott, a radio/TV personality and Shoeholics Magazine holiday issue cover feature who came to New York from Kansas for the event. She helped make the event’s program seem effortless. We are very grateful to her for such dedication and support of the publication. The gold sponsor Kelley Simons from Slingbackers dazzled in patent leather strappy gold sandals and designer blue dress. She appeared to be a die hard and dedicated Shoeholics, true to form. Kelley’s company is responsible for the wonderful problem solving products that makes wearing pants comfortable with sandals. Wearing pants & sandals has never been so much fun and easier because of her. Other supporters who made the night a big success are Lady’s Secret with the comfy foot/shoe pads, Moksha for the Masai printed scarves, PediCouture for the lovely 5 toe separator slippers, TiteGrip for the sweaty feet solution products, Travalo for the travel size perfume dispensers, Sukari Treats for the delicious shoe themed cupcakes, Pranna for the lovely venue, Yeye Osofisan at The UpperRoom Events for the flawless management and coordination of the event, including the decorations! The shoe themed Christmas Tree and Shoe shaped Minorah had stiff competitions as one of the most photographed decorated centerpieces at the event. The jaw dropping Dukas leg heel shoes encased in a lit up glass dome atop multilayer bed of roses and gardenias designed by The UpperRoom Events team almost stole the show! Dukas had this shoe exclusively designed for the party using our trademark vibrant purple color on the heels and shimmering leather for the pointy toe shoes. It was breathtaking!

The Tinu Shoebag (shoe shaped handbag) was awarded to the Best Shoes winner handpicked by the designer and Creative Director of herself. Tinu in custom made Francesco Sacco designed black suede, Swarovski crystals embellished sandals, selected Flory Ramoreboli who actually designed her own shoes for the party!
Italian designer Massimo Dogana flew in from Italy to not only observe as a sponsor but to also serve as one of the judges along with Kenneth Clark from Sukari Treats to pick the Myrtle Awards Shoe Cake of the Year winner. The award winning underdog was none other than Jose Rodriguez for Monkeying Around from California, US. Members, fans and readers of Shoeholics Magazine and Club helped narrow the selection that took a little over 2 weeks to complete.
The entertainment of the evening was provided by the lovely belly dancer Venus who made her first trip in over a year to New York City from southern New Jersey for the performance. She dazzled and captivated the guests with many belly dancing classics in exotic Arabian customs and accessorized with swords, lights, veils et. al. She attended the event with some of her closest friends and family members.
Proud sponsor Kelley Simons of Slingbackers had this to say after the event, “Wow! The Shoeholics Anniversary Party was a huge success in so many ways. For Shoeholics, as they rejoice in a great first year, with so much to celebrate and for Slingbackers… The Heel Wedge Solution, as I launched…feet first….so to speak…into the marketplace! As a proud sponsor of the event, Shoeholics was the perfect fit and venue to showcase my product and get new found exposure. What better way to market a product for shoes …than to women who love wearing shoes! Slingbackers …The Heel Wedge Solution….Never catch your clothes in between your heels and Slingback shoes again! Cheers and much continued success Shoeholics!” –Kelley Simons, President Slingbackers

We are proud to announce Venus, the lovely and talented Belly Dancer as a performer at the highly anticipated Shoeholics Magazine on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Pranna Lounge, New York City.
Venus, born into this ancient practice is a third generation career belly dancer. Learning the living art of dance movements in the loving embrace of her grandmother and aunts, from a time before she could walk. Her beauty and attention to details in both performance and costuming is what truly sets her apart among the mirage of today’s performers. Truly one of the most dexterous of American Cabaret dancers, there is no venue too strange or music request too off beat to phase her, rising to any challenge she seems to float across the floor. Venus truly excels with her mastering of balancing swords and fire trays. Magic to experience, crowds love the sensual energy she exudes as she becomes one with the music.
Venus is an avid shoe lover and collector herself! All the more reason why she is the perfect choice for this important event. We can not wait to see what she has in store for Shoeholics Magazine party on Thursday! We can expect some of the classics of belly dancing such as fire, veils, swords et.al. Her performance will commence by 10pm, just after guests mingling and red carpet photo op starting at 8pm.
